Topic: TAKT TIME 101: We Got The Beat
As more organizations decide to make the leap to become Lean, an initial thought that often plagues overwhelmed leadership teams is “we have SO MANY ISSUES, where do we start? Which Lean tools do we use first?”
Many experienced Lean Facilitators will debate this topic, but most can agree that near the top of the list is the need to create FLOW. Since any amount of time that an order sits in queue is defined as obvious waste, how does an organization create flow and keep the work moving forward? And at what rate does work need to move forward to meet customer needs?
In this one-hour Coffee Chat, we will break down the idea of Takt Time into simple terms and discuss how it might be useful in your application. The intent is not to make anyone a Takt Time expert, but instead to make participants feel more comfortable with the idea of Takt Time and how it might be used in their organization. Bring your questions, we’ll collect them as we go and do our best to answer them before time is up!

Beth Crowley is an Operations Executive/Coach at The Crowley Group, a part-time Faculty member at the Oakland University School of Business and a Regular Contributor to the digital magazine www.theleanmag.com.
Beth has a comprehensive, hands-on background in all aspects of executive coaching, change management, process re-engineering, value stream optimization and team leadership. She has extensive domestic and international industry and consulting experience in both manufacturing and corporate arenas, specializing in assessing operations and implementing strategies to eliminate waste and increase employee engagement and productivity. Beth has facilitated over 200 successful rapid improvement (kaizen) events using lean, six sigma and other quality tools.
